Today, I came in to work and shortly after being there (less than 30 minutes), I was informed that I could not come into the building via the door that I have been using, or else I will be terminated. Terminated over using… A door? This door is not a specific door used for emergency exits or anything like that.
For more clarity, we all have badges, and every door in the building has a scanner to badge in and out of, so everyone is traceable as long as they badge in and out. I always make sure to badge in and out using the door.
Apparently, it's completely fine to go OUT of the door, but not ok to go INSIDE through this same door. I was never told before by my manager that I could not use this door, period. In fact, my manager, and our engineers, all go out of this door as well. I've also seen other coworkers using this door to go inside to clock in for work, as well, and nothing has been said, otherwise I wouldn't still keep seeing people use it to go inside, including the people who work for the large company that we are contracted to work for.
