Threatened with termination over discussing pay and got boss confirming it on recording. Should I sue?

Been at this job for like 4 months. Was a technician. Got randomly approached one day about discussing pay and was told I either had to switch to this other role or get fired. I had to take the other role, even when I didn’t want to to stay alive until I find another job (which I’m currently interviewing). Went back in the boss’s office to “clarify” while recording to cover my ass. I live in a single party consent state in that regard so I’m covered. He came up with other bullshit excuses of being a technician “isn’t my forte”. I asked him if discussing pay was the “straw that broke the camels back” per say. Said he lost an employee because of that (who they weren’t giving promised raises to) and he found out I came in making more than he was. Not my fault. In his own words he said that it came straight from the company VP that discussing pay with other employees is a terminal offense. I told him it’s a federally protected law and he sort of brushed it off. Am I able to sue because of this? What would be the best way to go about it? I’m not trying to get caught up in a long and costly legal battle if it’s gonna be that much trouble. I work in a right to work state but I figured having proof of the reason I’m being threatened with termination would help. Any advice is appreciated.
