To all musicians and other gig workers that have “normal” jobs. Does your employer “get it”?

So I work as a cook, but Im also a DJ. This is our first summer “post pandemic” and I’m getting very consistent gigs for the summer. But they all land on Fridays or saturdays. Which are also the two busiest days of restaurants. My boss is pissed. I gave her months upon months of notice that the summer is my busy season and I’m going to be booking a lot of time off. With the patio opening and only 1 new cook to manage a +40% seating capacity. I’m taking every gig I can get to avoid that shitstorm. My boss had the nerve to tell me I can’t book every Friday and Saturday off. I responded that she’s going to need to match my rate of 250-300 a night in order for me to miss a gig (plus an inconvenience fee) So my question is, does your boss…
