To leave or to take a leave

Hi all. I am currently interviewing for a new job outside my company. I’m unhappy in my role for a number of reasons and my doctor wants me to take a medical leave bc Im having health issues brought on my stress and anxiety. I should know about these jobs I’m interviewing for by end of March. Hi all. I am currently interviewing for a new job outside my company. I’m unhappy in my role for a number of reasons and my doctor wants me to take a medical leave bc Im having health issues brought on my stress and anxiety. I should know about these jobs I’m interviewing for by end of March. If I don’t get one of them, or I sit down and analyze and decide I don’t want one that I do get, I will go on leave for 3-6 months and during that time figure out what to do.

I could use advice on timing. I’ll know about these jobs by end of the month, but my company takes about 4 weeks to approve a leave. So i can either:
– apply for leave now, which notifies my boss, and be able to start leave in mid April, with the chance I decide to leave the company and the leave itself becomes moot since I’ll quit before it even begins
– wait and apply for leave after I’ve decided on the jobs. Which means I won’t be able to leave until end of April but maybe that looks better from a perception standpoint?

I really don’t know and I suspect I’m overthinking this.
