And I have zero regrets. My new job is fully remote, pays $30k + more per year, and appears to value work life balance. At my current job, I was on a great team and liked my work. My boss was wonderful and taught me a lot. Yet, for months, return to office has been creeping up, and the company put out a mandate last week about having to go back to the office full time 2 weeks from now.
More companies need to understand that their best employees aren’t going to stay if forced unwillingly back to the office. I had NO other reasons to leave my company other than being forced into a stupid open office plan again. Us workers have seen the benefits in work life balance when working remotely, and we shouldn’t be forced to slave in an office to make middle managers feel like their job isn’t bullshit.
