I don't know what the fuck to do. I worked 60 hours this week and my boss calls me while I'm at dinner with my boyfriend, not sober, asking me to come in for a 12 hour night shift. I told him I couldn't and explained that I had already covered a bunch of extra shifts for them, and wanted one day to spend some fucking time with my boyfriend. An hour later he called me back and told me not to come in tomorrow. I'm fucking terrified because I have a kid and I pay rent. I don't know where else to work and how to get another job quickly. This was my first job. I have about 3k in savings to go through and then I'm fucked. Is this even legal? Is there anything I can do? Why the absolute fuck are we considered such a free country when employers are allowed to have tight leashes around our necks? I've worked 60 hour weeks for the past 5 FUCKING MONTHS because my job cite has been short on workers. I don't see my boyfriend or child anymore, but for the love of god at least I had something to keep a roof over our heads. And now that's gone. My boyfriend stays home with our child because we couldn't afford daycare while he was working, so I'm our only source of income. I feel like my life is over and my family is going to be homeless because of me.
I should add, I meant I was fired last night. I've been up for 30 hours stressing so it all seems like the same day.
