I worked for a builder for about 6 months. It’s a small company that builds homes. The owner is a horrible person. He’s an old guy-daddy’s money, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, angry, etc…
He acted decent when I first started there but after he got comfortable with me, he would yell at people in the office. He made jokes about trans people and called a home buyer a homophobic slur. Told me not to trust Mexicans because they always lie. He didn’t really know what he was doing and would undo any progress I made in getting homes built.
He is very verbally abusive and on my last day, I was in his office and told him about a problem we had with a delivery. He stood up from his desk and approached me while yelling. He was in my space while yelling at me. He yelled “DO. YOU. UNDERSTAND?!??” So, at this point I was shaking and said, “Yes.” and walked back to my office-shaking and in tears. He left for a meeting and I gathered my things, went into HR and quit.
I applied for unemployment and was denied because he said I was yelling at him…not the other way around.
I really want revenge at this point. Ideas (legal ones)?
