Does anyone have any ideas- I went on a short medical leave because there was a violent student on my caseload at school and I’m smaller than him. I did not want to get hurt after he hurt 9 staff members. Principal is not doing enough to keep us safe. I even filed an OSHA report. I got a new virtual job which I was so happy about so I could insure my safety. I called HR just to inquire about resignation. I didn’t mention a new job at all I just wanted to know resignation steps. They immediately started in on if I break contract they will report me to the credentialing board. The hostility was alarming. I’m scared now because I don’t want the credential suspended. I’m not a teacher but as a service provider in my state I need that credential for most school placements. Ugh I feel defeated. I can’t go back to my current school it caused me panic attacks daily. I’m so so angry about this. I’ve given 8 years of my career to this district. I hate the power play they pulled on me. I’m so angry. I worked my ass off to get myself out of this situation and they’re trying to pull a power move on me. FUCK HR!!!! Slimy scum of the earth. Not once did they ask about safety when I mentioned I have safety concerns. Who the fuck interrogates someone over a contract instead of waking the fuck up and investigating workplace violence? This student has hit 3-4 students. And the principal is demonstrating negligence. Some of my students told me their scared in their classroom because their teachers get hit. This is not okay! Like the fuck? Public education is becoming a wasteland. It’s deeply disturbing all of the trauma students and staff are experiencing.
