U.S. Child Soldiers

As a Veteran myself, I knew about the ability to enlist in the Army while still in High School, but never came across it, until today. A colleague’s son recently left for Bootcamp. He’s 17. Once he’s finished with bootcamp, he’ll come back and finish his senior year. He won’t deploy until he’s graduated and finished training but… He’ll have a military ID. He’ll go to class and have to abide by the Uniform Code of Military justice. If (if) a country was to invade, he’d be called upon, and could potentially be killed or taken as a POW. This country confused me.
