About a week ago I received a cold call from an old boss asking if I was interested in coming and working for him as a manager back at a company I interned for in college. I (softly) turned him down and spoke to my current manager about a raise to make up for all the extra work I had been picking up to make up for the massive amount of people leaving. My current manager asked me to “be patient”. This week I got a second offer from my old boss, offering me a 20% raise, WFH, and management experience. Today, I decided to accept the new job and put in my notice. My current boss spoke with HR this morning and decided after review that they aren't interested in counter offering or discussing any further. This completely confirmed my decision to leave.
Fuck work, chase the bag, they don't care about you.
Tldr: boss overworked me and asked me to be patient for a raise. Was patient, got better offer from another company.
