I’ve heard HR and my manager (happened yesterday) mention that if we tried to form a union they would shut the location down. I’ve recently found that this threat is illegal per the national labor relations act section 7.
I wanted to share a quote from their website calling the following an unfair labor practice:
“Threaten employees with adverse consequences, such as closing the workplace, loss of benefits, or more onerous working conditions, if they support a union, engage in union activity, or select a union to represent them”
I actually got uneasy when the conversation started, but I will absolutely bring this up. Just thought this would be helpful to share.
