I'll start out with this…
I work for one of, if not the, largest companies of it's type (we sell cars) on the east coast. Company profits in 2019 topped $2.1 billion dollars and have only gone up from there and there are approximately 2,500 employees both full and part-time. Every three weeks to a month we get notifications that the company has expanded again and has either bought out another of it's type, or added some extra location/expansion/nonsense no one wants while most every employee in one of three departments barely makes a living wage if at all, or needs a second job to make ends meet. I can feel the discomfort and distain growing for how things are being treated and see a change needs to be made soon and it may simply require a small spark to get the fire raging.
My plan is this:
I want to gather as much proper information on unions as I can to spread to every individual in the group so any false information they have is erased and disproven, and support for forming one can begin growing hopefully at very fast rate.
I plan to create “union fact/fiction” cards filled with as much information as I can fit, as well as sources for people to visit to expand their knowledge on unions, how they work, what they do, what they offer, and why the “company is a family, we're good without a union” culture the CEO and directors are so proud of is actually incredibly harmful for individual workers and careers. These cards will be sent by mail to every member of the company (anonymously, I still have bills to pay) as well as by email from an anonymous address and through a VPS to ensure the spread is as far as it can possibly be.
What I require, is that information and those sources.
Anything and everything any of you can offer as I'm fairly ignorant to everything myself. Send by DM or comment with links or tips, advice on what more I could do or even how to better approach this. Everything helps, and I promise to keep you all updated with what pans out as well as where I may be in the process of getting these things made and sent out.
Thanks for reading. Stay strong.
