Universal Basic Income Earned

Unpopular Opinion: Freeloaders dominate this subreddit. I bet 50+% of comments are made from an overpriced Mac that's for “personal use”. A lot of you are fighting the good fight and I support you in all endeavors (especially the HR fiascos, holy fuck) I propose the idea of Universal Basic Income (suck it Yang i did it first). Slightly different from the blue caps, but I think UBI should be earned, not handed out to every US citizen. The first requirement: have a job. UBI is not a solution to not being able to afford rent. If you can't afford rent, UBI isn't going to be sustainable enough. It is a supplement that will hopefully help those who need get that little extra bump that helps their kids afford school supplies. I propose the idea of Universal Basic Income (suck it Yang i did it first).

Second requirement: have kids. UBI is really only FOR the children and their future SUCCESS. I am a single male with no kids. I do not need UBI. I make under 50k a year (in a NorthEast city) and end up with money in my pocket after each month's expenses. Rent ain't cheap here so what did I do? move back home. I know that isnt a luxury all have, but that means city living isn't in the budget, im sorry. Hard truths are what make you stronger. There are tons of awesome small towns will jobs that pay the same amount(proportionally more with less living costs).

Third requirement: make less than (this part is tough) 100k: I understand 100k is vastly different depending on where you live. I am following Harvard's method of “if family makes less than 75k = free tuition”. I came from a old-money private school that had a similar policy, and I can tell you the top 5% of my class was 90% kids who benefited from this policy. So much smarter than I, I cannot even explain what their jobs are today.

These are my first three half-baked requirements. How do you all envision a more supportive future?
