Unplanned and early out -unscheduled PTO

It's a nice day and the kids are all home for the summer. This morning, after checking the schedule I asked my manager if he minded me taking a half day since all my kids and half the neighborhood would be at my house so I could take them to the beach. He immediately stated asking if this was planned or unplanned if I knew about it before hand which I answered truthfully. They then said yeah no problem the calendar is clear you're all set. They then came back and said make sure you mark it as “Unplanned and early out”. I replied okay and thank you very much. But then had to ask why it was being marked like this. I asked to take some time for my kids . I'm not saying I'm sick and bouncing right now.. he came back with an HR policy quote and…

One more reason not to give me a raise next year…
