So I was indeed fired the next day for “no call, no show.”
Applied for unemployment, and was sent a questionnaire about my side of the situation.
I told them a pet had just died, and I had called in an hour after my shift was supposed to start, and that I was told to not come in for the rest of the day (I was scheduled for a double).
Also told the unemployment people that I have seen multiple employees be over an hour late/not showing up at all to their shifts with no notice and not get fired, so I guess we'll see what happens.
I'm never going to invest myself into a job again. I'm so glad I learned this lesson early, now I just hope that I can actually receive unemployment.
