UPDATE: I posted the below about a month ago. I am happy to share that I accepted a fully remote job for 22% pay increase.
I put in my resignation notice this morning via teams. My boss’s reaction was as expected: cold, short, and quite obviously pissed off. She even said that I “it’s not all about the money” good lord. I said it wasn’t personal and we ended the call. It does hurt my feelings as I’ve done a lot for the company but life moves on and I’m excited to start my new job.

I love my job but I cannot stand my boss. She micromanages, gaslights, and speaks to me like I am a child. I am a salaried employee with a job that requires little to no oversight.
She got worse since COVID because we moved to WFH and she lost a lot of the control she thought she had. I work in a niche field and my current company has had open positions for MONTHS and cannot find qualified applicants. Partly because they aren’t offering full remote. My boss claims that people are entitled and should stop demanding employers let them WFH.
This sub helped me start applying for jobs a few months ago. I even drafted a resignation notice just to manifest quitting. I found the perfect position, fully remote, 15% pay increase, and closer to my house in the event I’d have to go into the office for anything. I interviewed last week and it went so well. They even told me they were impressed with my experience. My final interview with the CEO is in two weeks. Every day, I fantasize about handing in my notice to my current boss and watching the look on her face when I tell her “guess I’m just entitled”.
