I took the day off on Monday to see if I would feel better. On Tuesday I felt worse, so I called out again and took an at-home test. It came up positive, I took a picture, then my partner brought me to the nearest clinic. Took like an hour and a half, but I got an official positive, and took a picture of that too. Sent both images to my boss, telling him I'd be out for the week.
We picked up our kid from camp ASAP and they also tested positive. They had to miss their first week of camp after having already experienced their first day. I allowed myself to get good and pissed.
My in-laws let me have a printer that they weren't using. I downloaded a worker's comp Form 18, filled it out, and mailed it along with a copy of my Covid positive test and a cover letter (I still have copies for myself!). There wasn't enough room on the form to detail why I knew my boss is at fault, but I still kept it short. I put that in the mail on Thursday.
On Friday, I e-mailed a scanned copy to my boss, informing him that I'd filed. He didn't talk to me about it, but did express his upset to the receptionists, Mr. We Need To Cut Down On Office Gossip.
“Do you think I did it on purpose?” he cried.
“No,” they said.
“Do you think I was negligent?”
“Well, yeah.”
(They had gotten Covid from him before I did)
