US income and expenses

Hello people of antiwork, Been lurking this sub for a while now and seeing many posts about minimum wages and expenses in the States left me wondering a lot of things. For context I live in UK where the average salary is £30000. That's lets say £15.6/hr (gross, £11.5 net). I would say that is enough for you as a single person to live and rent comfortably anywhere perhaps except central London. You'd probably need quite a big deposit or have a partner to buy a house but it is what it is. Now going back to US. I've seen that in average salaries seem to be much higher $52000 (and lower income taxes) but people can hardly get by with even that, let alone a lot of jobs that pay a miserable minimum wage or not even that. How is it possible to be unable to live similar life…

Hello people of antiwork,

Been lurking this sub for a while now and seeing many posts about minimum wages and expenses in the States left me wondering a lot of things.

How is it possible to be unable to live similar life with higher base income and lower taxes?
Also if everyone got higher wages, let's say double everything, would it not in turn raise prices just because landlords and businesse can ask for more?

Thanks for your time and apologies for my english as it's not my first language.
