So these days it looks like a lot of fully remote jobs / companies are basing salary off of where you live. As such, folks living in places like SF and NY will get way higher salaries than someone living in Iowa.
I'm wondering if a good trick would be just to change the address on your resume to an address in SF or NY. You could even sign up for a virtual mailbox service, or find someone there that you could pay to receive your mail / use their address.
Then once you are hired and have signed your contract you could call up HR and tell them you had to move for some family crisis or just bought a house or whatever, then provide them with your real address. I wouldn't think they would then downgrade your salary since the contract is already signed. You could also just continue using the fake address without telling them but this seems higher risk (the area where your computer logs in won't reflect your address on file, and you would need the person at that address to forward your company computer to you very quickly)
