The workplace I resigned from about a month ago is asking me to pay them back for taking more vacation days than I earned this far in the year. I’ve already received my last pay check with no deductions. They’re asking me to write a check for the amount owed. Is this legal?
The statement regarding this on my employee contract is “ If you have taken vacation time before it is earned, we may deduct the applicable amount from any payments owing to you when your employment ends, in accordance with applicable legislation”.
