Does this fit here? I have been working like crazy on my website for weeks to become an account manager in a digital marketing firm here in New York City. While they require 2 years of digital marketing experience, I have over 5 years on my personal time working on websites and marketing programs, learning how ads work on multiple spaces, and 6 years of general account management experience. Long story short, I woke up today to do the interview and was immediately shut down due to not having those two 2 years done professionally in the digital marketing space. The owner looked at my resume 5 minutes before our interview and decided I could not fit his standards. I feel like this could have been done via email or even text to spare me the time spent on my website, or the excitement built up until this morning. Maybe any marketing people out there could tell me if this isn't enough experience or some kind of advice? At least one lesson I learned so far is don't trust or get too excited for any company until that contract is signed and delivered. Until then, off to apply in the abyss again, with at least having a working website. Wish me luck! 🙂
