I work for a small family company of about 10 people run by 2 brothers and one of their sons. They're your stereotypical multimillionaire rich assholes that regularly throw tantrums and blame issues on their overworked employees. Super toxic environment where everyone is miserable and walks on eggshells around them.
A coworker in another department recently quit and I've been trying to cover her job and mine with very little support or training. They hired someone new but they expect me to train this person when I barely understand the job myself, super stressful and just bad management.
Today we had a meeting where the boss was going nuts and getting himself worked up, saying we're going a lousy job and yelling for the entire office to hear. Then when he started picking on the new guy in my department (who has been handling so much and doing a great job) I lost what little respect I had for that place. My boss said we'll continue the meeting in 30 minutes so he can cool off. I said no I'm going home for the day and left.
Anyway, I'm done. If/when he contacts me I'll be resigning effective immediately. I'm planning on being polite and brief but other than that, I hope they fucking hurt.
I was hoping to have a new job lined up by now but I have enough savings to last over a year and the emotional and financial support of my family should I need it.
Today is my birthday and I feel fucking happy.
