Walked out of a job after consistently being lied to.

I’m a tradesman. Long hours with heavy machinery and stress. I don’t mind it too much,my choices alone got me here and I understand that. What I don’t understand though,is why I’ve constantly been lied to and cheated. 15 years experience and I never lie to a potential employer. I’m always straight forward about my abilities and the willingness to learn. Yet,literally the last 5 years has been just constant fuckery. Back in august I had hand surgery. I decided to update my resume and just see what was up. I instantly got a call from who I thought was an absolute wonderful man about a job. Literally 5 minutes away and paying decent enough that I could finally survive on a 40-50 hour week. Swore up and down they’d train me and I accepted. Within a week I told I’d be “go to guy” and get training for everything…

Within a week I told I’d be “go to guy” and get training for everything and I mean everything in the shop. My hours fluctuated. They were annoyed I couldn’t just learn everything about these complex machines in a week. I was on a new machine daily. Then the “foreman “ suddenly got a bug up his ass(later found out he loves driving out younger new hires). All of a sudden I HAD to be watched at all times,I never did anything after he left or anything at all really. I worked a 17 hour shift for him to try and get some respect and was told that I had three hours to sleep then I had to come back in. I got a flat tire and told him I’d be about 20 minutes late and he told me to stay home. I showed up the next day to the owner screaming in my face in front of everyone. He belittled me,denied his foreman was doing anything to screw with me (I have oodles of proof in writing and voicemails) and then demanded the key I had back “maybe you can earn that level of trust again “ I was told. I waited for him to finish and asked if he was finished. He told me “yeah, now finish the rest of the job” and I calmly told him to do it himself and walked right out. Can someone please explain to me why this is common? Why they literally started to ruin my mental health because…well because? I tried so hard. I was never late and the only time I called in was when I had Covid last month. This bullshit needs to stop. I stand in solidarity with everyone who has recently done the same and said “fuck it”. I also would like to apologize for poor grammar and/or punctuation. I fucked around in school when I should’ve been learning lol
