Walking out feels so good

Just a quick post to gloat about leaving my shitty hospo job like everyone else. I’ve worked a range of hospo gigs from family owned venues where they always gave us meals (and catered for EVERY allergy/diet) and took the health and well-being of all employees seriously, to places run by psychopaths and mafia leaders and greedy bosses, etc etc. Well when I walked into this place two weeks ago, it was the worst of all.

The manager was a bitch. The venue was regularly patronised by gang leaders and in my five shifts there, two staff walked out mid shift to be let back the next day, 0 consequences.

Before I told them I was leaving I flicked through the employee handbook that I was yet to sign, and there was a clause that states that if inadequate notice of leave was given, they would withhold your pay. I decided to wait until I got my paycheck to inform them I was leaving. The problem (for them) is that the weeks roster comes out before the pay checks do. So once I got my email I sent the man who hired me a message to let him know I would be unavailable for the four shifts I was rostered for, and into the future.

Fuck, it feels good knowing they’re gonna struggle. (I feel bad for exactly one of the waitresses. She alone was lovely.)
