I had been searching for a new job/different career path for a year plus to get out of the semi-toxic job environment. (Insert Great Resignation generic story line here). I was looking around cause I knew what I was currently doing was not the career path I wanted. I didn’t see myself there for 20+ years, let alone the next 5.

On my last day of a 3.5 week notice, I meet with my boss to make sure we had gone over all my task and responsibilities. He informs me that he had plans to give me a $30,000 raise and huge promotion by the end of the year. Note, he didn’t even try to counter offer when I submitted my notice. Now this money is stuck in my head.

Did I make the right call? Should I have spoke with him earlier about my frustrations and dislikes about the job before accepting another? Think he was serious? Just trying to make me feel guilty? My heads just spinning but at the same time relieved to have found something new.
