Last Wednesday I got out of the hospital after being hospitalized for myocarditis. Worse pain I have ever experienced, but that’s not what this is about.
I had started a new job and after telling them about the sudden hospitalization they seemed to be very understanding and helpful. During that time there was no indication that my position was at risk.
They gave me my next shift (which was tomorrow) yesterday (even though I had a signed note saying no work for 4 weeks) but I accepted the shifts anyways as money is tight.
This morning I woke up to a text saying they wanted to change the duties of my position. Instead of standing at cash and taking inventory, I would now be doing yard maintenance around the store. I have a heart condition and reminded them that over exerting myself could potentially cause greater heath issues right now. Maybe in 2 months I would be able to but just not right now.
They then went on to say “well this is what we interviewed you about” yet not once was yard work ever brought up. They then proceeded to “let me go”
Moral of this story. Trust no employer, not even the ones you like and respect. You are nothing but a slave in their eyes and they do not give two shits about you.
I had a strong work ethic, I tried and gave it my all every fucking day. I have been screwed over 3 times now, that work ethic is done. I have no drive or care to impress employers now. I will be that lazy sack of shit at work now because obviously working hard is getting me no where .
