Was sent a message telling me that they looked at payroll and I was being taken off salary to save money. I did some quick math and behold, rounded down to 40$. Jesus. I’m an executive chef and now I’m only useful to a certain point for my team. Now I have to slam together all my prep work so it’s super poor quality. I can no longer cover shifts for employees with emergencies. I can no longer assist the front and my dishwasher (or three days out of the week no dishwasher) with doing dishes and bussing tables when they are busy making açaí smoothie bowls by the half dozen. Now I have to remember to actually clock in which I’m always doing my work first and it helped not to clock in. And lastly, my finances are not secure because if I get sick or need to have an emergency, I suffer thrice: health, financially, and leaving my staff to figure it out without me.
