Wasting time with a job interview

Yesterday, I get a text from 'Sofia in HR' asking me to come in for an interview in a major city about an hour from where I live. I texted back that I was interested, but because the salary range varies wildly for the position I applied for, I also asked for the budget for the position. No response to the text. I called 2 hours later to confirm my interest and ask my question again. Sent to voice-mail, where I repeated my concerns. I ask again via text, no response.

I went to the interview this morning. Took an hour to get there, as expected.

When I told the interviewer during small talk before the interview that I drove an hour, he asks, “is that drive worth this salary?”

I said that depends on the salary, which I inquired about several times yesterday.

“The salary is <15k less than what I'm making in my remote position>, but can go as high as , depending on experience and performance.”

“Have a good day.” And I walked out. Should have seen the red flags when they wouldn't answer my questions before the interview.
