So, I work 3rd shift at a warehouse. There's a big suicide prevention sign right where we badge in. Next to it is a sign with the headline “Ways to Relax”. Some of the suggestions:
– Take a Nap
– Mow Grass / Yard Work
– Spa Time
– Go on Vacation
– Avoid Stressful Situations
– Order a Pizza
– Cleaning House
– Take a Deep Breath and Count to 10
– Exercise
I think the vacation suggestion isn't being utilized enough by people. I mean, what's so hard about requesting time off, weeks to months in advance – to possibly get approved for consecutive days off?
Maybe I'll take up exercise, since 10+ hour shifts at breakneck speed on concrete is just plain lazy.
Anyway, do any of you have some suggestions for ways to relax? Maybe I'll put some in the suggestion box at work. It's locked and covered in dust, but I think they read them.
