In my experience they are often just as bad as big corporations, and in a lot of cases worse because they find every excuse to pay less and have worse benefits.
I think a great example is credit unions vs banks. People love to go on and on about how great CU’s are but the reality is that pay and benefits at CU’s is often horrendous. You can say the same for corporate restaurants vs small restaurants…at least at corporate restaurants you have the ability to often opt in to their benefit program.
And small business owners are some of the most entitled people I’ve met. They never fail due to their own mismanagement…it’s always bad employees, cost of labor, people wanting benefits, etc. I’ve also seen plenty of small businesses make a very nice living off the back of labor they pay under poverty wages. Simply put if you have two teslas and a 750k house but your employees make 10/hr you’re an asshole.
So let’s stop propping these people up. If you can’t pay a decent wage and benefits your businesses model is the problem, period
