We should not glorify overworking and treat workaholics as having a mental disorder

My manager is a self proclaimed workaholic, who puts in 50-60 hour weeks and usually works on weekends. Our work culture isn't like that but my manager imposes alot of pressure on the team and she's burnt herself out before. There are fewer deadlines this month, which would be the perfect time to allow herself and the team to take a break. Instead, when the topic of Easter break comes up, my manager wants to come in to work during the holiday and use the quiet time to be “productive”. I've made it clear I have no plans of coming in to work, during a public holiday. I don't consider it healthy to be overworking and being a workaholic is an addiction. I don't consider it healthy to be overworking and being a workaholic is an addiction. There's nothing to be proud of being a workaholic or spending all your time working. I want to spend time with the people that matter to me and enjoy having a life outside of work.

In my opinion, a good employer/manager should be encouraging staff to have work life balance. If the team is working excessive overtime, there's an issue with staffing/resourcing and they should be getting team to work smarter not harder.
