WFH Attendance Expectations? Annual review drama.

Hello all. I joined a new company last year. It’s a multi million dollar business that has moved nearly all of its employees remote because of the pandemic. I am currently in preparations for my first annual review. We have a formal survey to complete, with a numbered score being assigned to a rating scale. The manager then adds their opinion after you submit your self-evaluation. One of the questions was about attendance.

I gave myself the rating equivalent of “exceeds expectations” and my manager gave me “generally adheres to standards”.

I called off a total of three days last year. The first time was for me being sick, and I was out for two days in a row. The second was a single day for my daughter.

Am I missing something? I thought missing three days in an entire year was exceptionally good? Am I never supposed to be too sick to work since I work from home?

My kid is in daycare and is sick all the time and clearly can’t care for herself. Also doesn’t “generally adheres” imply that I don’t always adhere, so I’m actually below expectations? I’m pissed. It’s not even a customer facing job. There are nearly zero implications for the company if I pop up with a sick day.
