WFH pisses me off.

Like some of these jobs have been able to have been done from home for fucking ages. Since at least 2005 and during the rise of high-speed internet. My brother worked for Caterpillar and had an hour each way commute for over 3 years until he could afford to buy a house closer to his job. So on a typical 5 day work week, that's 1,440 hours of his life evaporated assuming he had 4 weeks vacation/personal days used per year. 60 straight 24 hour days of just driving. I worked at a call center during the height of the pandemic, and we were told during the start of Covid that there was “no way” we could WFH due to the sensitivity of client's information. Then when it started getting worse, it was like someone waved a magic wand and we could suddenly do it. If you think of all…

If you think of all the energy that could be saved from WFH, both the energy used in your vehicle as well as power,heating,A/C/etc in buildings, all the wear and tear on cars, all the greenhouse gases not spewed out, ,the time employees save commuting, the money saved on work attire (unless your job uses video) would make sense to anyone with half a brain that staying that way would be much better.

But no, these idiot managers feel the need to have peons to coral up into the office and stare at, akin to a king lording over his peasants.

There is really no excuse why so many of these jobs weren't WFH way before Covid even started.
