Literally. I just woke up from a nightmare. In real life, I’ve worked at a desk most of my career, mostly as a paralegal. This morning, I dreamt I was a waitress at a nice restaurant. First, I’m in the bathroom for awhile, because well, I’m having abdominal issues. By the time I get out, I’m panicking because I can’t find my notebook to take orders. A coworker said she saw our boss purposely hide it from me, and there were notes in about my performance. I then go to my section and there are a dozen new tables seated. I tell everyone since I didn’t see the order they were seated, I was going to start in corner and make my way down the line. Also, as I was walking past another section, a customer at another table asked me for a scoop of ice cream. As I was looking in freezer for flavors available, I heard him angrily shouting at my other coworker where is everyone else? That her and I deserve raises as we are the only two people actually working. Then I woke up.
Moral of the story one: I need to read less anti-work stories before bed.
Moral of the story two: I usually tip about 20% every time. I think I’m gonna start tipping more because I see how hard servers work, and it’s a lot harder than I can imagine (or dream). I appreciate you and what you do!
