So I work in a non-corpo restaraunt and I make 16/hr as of the other day after asking for a raise (cause you know I sure wasn't gonna get one if I didn't ask.). I'm not trying to sound ungrateful but that's just still not enough. I work as much as I can, but I still am failing to meet my financial responsibileries. Like I haven't been able to go grocery shopping in a long time, and have been surviving essentially on rice and beans at home and with whatever I can eat at work for free. I make myself available for my job as much as I feel I can.
I've also been looking for work outside of this job, and I haven't gotten any meaningful responses, or any plausible opportunities to speak of. I'm trying to do what I can to keep living, but it's starting to wear me real thin, and I don't know that it's really sustainable or tenable for me. I just don't know what I supposed to do at this point or how to convince my employer to give me what is an impactful wage. I can work more hours, sure but its still gonna be working more hours at a starving/slave wage. I'm really feeling like I'm done sacrificing my health and mental wellness for this job, but it's not like I can quit right? So the only choice for me is to reduce the quality of which I do my job til I feel like I'm paid adequately, right?
