So I worked at some pyramid scheme sales place for about a week back in November. ( I know, dumb move) I made around $400 in commission during that time. My then-boss told me he would mail me the check. Fast forward to three months later, I still have not received my check and he is not responding to any of my messages or calls. I wrote a long message to one of the higher ups about how it was illegal to not pay me for the money I worked for and a day later I get an email from ADP that they issued me a check for half the amount of money I'm owed. Well now it's been two weeks and I haven't received that check either. I know it's illegal to issue a check and not mail it out and I also know wage theft is illegal. The issue is that I don't remember ever signing any contract stating the hours or commission pay. Also, we were required to come in for morning hours and come back to the office after work hours but there was no salary. I know it's my fault for working for a company so shady but I would really appreciate any advice on how to get my money. Even if I can't get my money, I don't want him to be able to get away with wage theft and I want him to have to deal with at least some consequences. I just think it's disgusting how he always brags about making 400k/year but will steal from low-income entry level workers. I tried posting on r/legaladvice but didn't get any responses so I thought maybe someone could help me out here. Thanks in advance!
