What are some practical changes that could bridge the wealth and power chasm in society?

No human being should have the dominion over another that many lords employers do over their serfs employees: it's become normalized to the point that we'll grumble about it when that power is flaunted in a flagrant manner, but for the most part we just do our best to stay afloat, whilst some figure that since they're powerless to change the rules they may as well just play the game. Nobody should make more money in an afternoon than a struggling couple make in a year combined – even if they're inventing things that will transfigure the world, it's obscene. Nobody should make more money in an afternoon than a struggling couple make in a year combined – even if they're inventing things that will transfigure the world, it's obscene.

Nobody should be limping through downtown with their few possessions bestrewn into a shopping trolley whilst a private jet flies overhead, irrespective of who they are and what they've done.

Nobody should be idolised and respected purely for wealth they accrued – not earned – by exploiting the tilted system, whilst the destitute are blamed for making their own bed of nails through poor decisions and laziness.

When critiquing the current system one is often confronted by smug strawmen arguments adducing the catastrophes that befell historical attempts at communism or socialism, which are pretty easy to deflect if you've done any research into them, however I was wondering what practical changes you would make to the current system to help level the playing field somewhat?

UBI? Higher corporate tax with less loopholes? Caps on personal wealth? Limits on property owned? Limits on rent increases? Changes to any employment laws? Subsidized education and changes to student loans?
