I'm a consultant and I found out that I'm going to be let go in two weeks because they don't have a new client lined up for me. Unless that changes, I'm working on my exit strategy and applying to jobs.
This is why I joined a consultant firm for the security and exposure to multiple companies. I'm absolutely furious and anxious about the uncertain future in this economy. But this is out of my hands.
While I'm here waiting out for the inevitable end, I was wondering what are some things I should do for myself while I have access to everything? Some things that came to the top of my head:
- Reach out to internal colleagues to pass my resume around to their external contacts
- Go through the company's perks an see what I can use up before I go
Any advice for folks who got their heads up before leaving would be appreciated.
