“What do I do if I get sick?”

TLDR: I’m mostly just venting about my new boss I work for a “nonprofit” health corporation at a hospital outpatient pharmacy. I’ve been super depressed since I started there, and I’ve missed 7 or 8 days and I sometimes oversleep and get there late. It’s a bad habit, and I’m starting therapy. But anyway, I am at the point where I will most likely be fired if my new boss is unable to convince the higher ups to “clean my slate” of absences. In a 1-on-1 meeting with my boss, he basically told me that I have 6 months until my first absences/points fall off. Which means I cannot call in for 6 months. I asked what to do if I get sick, am throwing up, or get covid. He said ideally I should not be in that position and COMPLETELY avoided the question. He went on to say that…

He went on to say that nurses in the ICU are assigned patients and if they don’t show up to work, that patient suffers. He said my job as a pharmacy tech that doesn’t deal with life saving scenarios is as important as an ICU nurse. 1. I know I’m not that’s ridiculous and if I am I should get paid like one, and 2. If a nurse is sick and doesn’t come in, other nurses help the patient???

If I’m physically or mentally unwell, I should be able to stay home and not be fired for it. I have PTO. But because I’m missing a shift, I am in danger of losing my job
