So I work for a cash in transit company as a armed guard/messenger – delivery boy for a bank like brinks. We have a contractual obligation to deliver money (holdovers) to other companies that operate in the same manner.
To set the scenario, we were closed this past Thursday and Friday due to the snow storm we had so holdovers for those two days were backed up.
I came in this past Monday to start my shift and was checking out my bags of money for the route and was told I’m delivering the holdovers to “company B;” which was the holdovers they were supposed to come to us to pick up, as well as the ones that were to be delivered to them for those days as well as Monday.
When I got to Company B they refused the liability (money) that was supposed to be picked up from us Thursday and Friday because we weren’t supposed to be delivering those specifically, only the regular delivery was accepted.
Later in the day I was supposed to go back to pick up their holdovers intended for us and they asked about the holdovers I attempted to deliver in the morning (the late ones from Thursday and Friday). I said I could deliver them with permission from the vault manager, I contacted him and he confirmed. Everything was solved with that issue after a total of 4 hours at this specific stop on the route after a 12hr day.
We were supposed to pick up Company C’s holdovers as well but my driver said he was done for the day (legally only allowed to do 12hrs on the road). So we went back to the branch, and the Vault Lead (not manager) was furious saying I was a “wrecking ball”, “walking excuse”, etc. after I informed him that I was given what was supposed to be picked up and that it took 4hrs for them to figure it out and contact the correct individuals on top of what I was already there to do.
He got the branch manager involved and he understood the situation and said next time just let somebody know what’s going on, I agreed and continued checking in.
Following day the operations manager called me and I went over the situation with him. He brought up that as a driver I had took my messenger to 4 stops that was not selected by the lead of said route (but was on the route sheet) and that it was a problem, but wouldn’t be if I drop the harassment situation I had with the vault lead.
