A fast food place I worked at for some time had this “manager” that was extremely conflict-avoidant. The reason for “” is because to this day, I don't know what their title was because they never told me the first day so I tried to figure it out indirectly by listening to their conversations with other employees cause I already knew they were crooked because as a higher up you're supposed to introduce name, position, and rank if possible to your new lesser. The entire time I was there, I heard three potential titles from him: manager, owner, and boss. As such, I noted them as just a person who worked there or “untitled.”
Other red flags included the untitled not allowing maternity leave for an 8 months pregnant coworker, toxic coworkers in general, the fact that the untitled would only be at our restaurant to sit at back with their laptop out and never teach us anything in depth other than “just do what I said,” the fact that I noticed they would argue with their wife over their personal phone (their wife's contact name was just “Wife,” yikes?) now and then, the fact that we were under surveillance by this untitled because they would decide to be more communicative verbally only if they saw us “being suspicious” on the cameras, and we were *always* short staffed.
Eventually, I bailed with a few dark marks under my eyes and attempted to figure out contributing factors to the untitled's incompetence since that was my 4th ever job and all of those 4 jobs I've worked were shit. These are all big guesses based on my personal living experiences as someone approaching their late 20s.
- They live in an unfulfilling/dysfunctional family.
- Researched the LLC, the untitled was actually an Officer of the LLC until removal a while after I bailed.
- The Officer told me at some point that they were there for 2 years, it was actually 10 years based on research.
- I am assuming this Officer was actually *micromanaging 2 whole locations* of established fast food franchises based on what I witnessed in the one store I worked at and the LLCs title being [City name Franchise name LLC] where in the mentioned city are 2 existing locations for said franchise.
Also, the Officer would do this weird thing with younger employees (me too) where they kept trying to find opportunities to teach us life lessons and cultural values of their race like we were their kids or something. I wish being a good, hard worker was easy for me but man. I see this shit and my morale drops in like a month in.
