What I’m currently learning as a business student.

I'm currently getting an AS in Business Management online. I've always loved online learning and even got my high school diploma online as a homeschooler before it was popular. Anyways, I'm going through my computer class and what is being taught is the idea that business work environments are moving online. They have been for a while now, but slowly becoming an actual thing. They are discussing how the ideal work environment for offices is literally to work by the beach or poolside. Who wouldn't want this? It's like a dream job come true. Get paid to sit by the pool, watch your kids play, and enjoy the sun from the comfort of your home or hotel. I found it interesting that the new graduates are going out into the working world expecting companies to offer this unique working style. Especially since my teaching materials are telling me that the old 9-5 and working in an office is now officially outdated, I fear that most companies are still pushing for the traditional working environment. I know change is difficult for some companies, but they will need to adjust. I guess companies will have to get their hands on this learning material because this is what is being taught now. I'm a millennial in my mid-30s. I've been slowly working on my degree since there is no rush for me to finish. There is a significant mismatch between what new graduates expect and older companies hiring the recent graduates.

I was working for a company that required me to go to work daily and work a 12-hour shift six days a week. And if someone didn't come to work, I had to go in on my only day off and cover the shift. This job could have been remote. I could easily install the software onto my home computer and do the job, but it wasn't an option unless I got sick with COVID. Because then I would be forced to work from home because chances were that no one would want to cover my spot.

After seven years, my health declined very rapidly. I now have diabetes and a thyroid problem. I'm still very young, which baffled my doctor. But he did tell me that I could no longer work so much, it was seriously taking a toll on my body, and I needed to save what functions I did have. Six months later and new medication has me feeling great. The damage is done, but at least I can work again (at my own pace).

Currently, I operate an online store on several platforms. I also do Uber eats deliveries to maintain cash flow. This will be my source of income until I finish my education. Then I will re-evaluate my situation.

Anyone have anything they want to add?
