What is a good example of the workplace showing that they care for their employees via food?

Not gonna surgar coat it, I've seen some INDULTINGLY bad and trival lunches here. Monthly pizza parties are okay, but here it's cereal, small doughnuts, and lunches that you have to pay to go to and is mandatory. Assuming that there was absolutely no other way of showing their thanks, what would be a reasonable means of serving a free lunch to employees? I understand that this place is not work friendly, but I figured that I would ask just to try and close the gap a bit
