Tldr: I wanted long sleeve t-shirts to cover my arms and protect them from rubbing compound. I don't want to wear our company sweatshirts as it is the summer and the shop gets very hot during the day.
For context, I work in an automotive industry, blue collar. My job primarily consists of sanding, buffing and polishing freshly painted cars (for anyone wondering, I get paid a little under $20/hr with 5 years experience working in body shops).
The materials I need to use when buffing cars makes a lot of dust and also splatters around a lot and will often cover my clothes and arms.
All of these materials have warning labels saying “skin irritant, wash area immediately after contact, remove contaminated clothing” and so on, some are less severe, others more so.
I've asked my supervisor if they could provide me long sleeve t-shirts to cover my arms when using these materials as they are very harsh on my skin but was refused. They only offer short sleeve t-shirts and sweaters, and the last time I wore a sweater in the shop I almost got heat stroke because it was close to 90°F.
