Without getting into too much detail I have a friend who is currently in a suspension for 2 weeks at work and needs some advice on how to proceed to protect herself. Location – Pennsylvania.
On the day that she was suspended, she had tried to log into her computer and was denied access to everything. Her supervisor contacted her by phone later to tell her that she was suspended pending an investigation as to whether or not she violated an employee policy related to harassment.
When she asked for more information she was told that they were not able to give her any due to an active investigation. She has nothing in writing at this point, and she doesn't even know if her suspension is paid or unpaid. She doesn't know who filed a complaint. She contacted a lawyer this morning who basically said that nothing can be done until an accusation is brought forth.
I told her to start documenting a timeline and not to answer any questions posed by her employer. Get everything in writing from here on out. What else does she need to do right now and moving forward? Any advice would help. I've been fired unjustly in the past and wished I had an advocate to help me through the gaslighting.
