I’m leaving a job after finding out I make 20k less than my extremely under qualified and incompetent coworker. I’ve been working over 60 hour weeks while I found out they’ve been working less than 20 hours. This gap is because I was one of the first hired and they came on a couple months later. That salary they earn is for filling in a spreadsheet once a week that still doesn’t come out on time and I have to double check to make sure we’re not losing thousands of dollars. Their previous experience was being an Applebees bartender, and they refuse to learn how to use excel or teams or even their email properly. I truly am not exaggerating that their one responsibility is to produce one spreadsheet a week.
I am continuously praised for my work ethic and how great of an addition I am. I’ve outlined how much work I do, what I do, and how much I should be making. They’re aware, and have made it clear there are no plans to balance salaries.
Recently more and more salaries have been shared amongst our smaller company, something our millionaire president deems “insubordination.” So on my way out, I’d like to send out a list of these salaries but I’d like to be aware of any possible consequences (legal or other).
Any thoughts are appreciated.
