Do you believe there is a such thing, and if so, how would you define it?
I've worked a lot of jobs in my life, the vast majority were for horrible companies, and most of my life I felt like a number. In my current job though, I feel like I actually work for a good company. Some examples of why I feel that way:
Good pay. Honestly not just a liveable wage, but comfortably supporting my family of 5 on a single salary
No real mandatory overtime, though voluntary is usually available if you need it
Shift flexibility
Good Healthcare (For the US anyway), excellent retirement
Zero micromanagement
Good vacation time, and the ability to borrow against vacation time you don't even have yet if you need it
If you need time off, they work with you. Even extended periods of time
Increased pay if you need to come in during a difficult situation, like a weather emergency
For me, these things make for what I consider a great job. What are your standards though? I obviously make less than my boss, his boss, etc. That sucks I guess, but is there a point where you are happy with what you make for the work you do, even if somebody's making more? Are you entirely against capitalism for this reason?
I see so many varying opinions and comments posted around this sub, and I don't know how many are serious and what is sarcasm. This got me curious, so let me know your personal feelings on the subject. Is there a such thing as a good job, are you against any job whatsoever, and what are your priorities in the work place.
