What’s the dumbest advice you’ve received on why you’re having trouble getting interviews?

For me it was a combination of: “It's easier to get a new job when you already have a job. They'll see that you're a committed employee.” “You shouldn't apply for jobs outside of business hours, because they'll think you're only available when they're closed.” Is it not obvious how those two don't go together? I like applying bad job searching advice to dating advice. “It's easier to date someone new when you're already married. They'll see that you're a committed partner.” “You shouldn't ask someone on a date for a time when they're off work, because they'll think you'll only dedicate yourself to them when they're not busy with their own obligations.”
