I'm a video producer who has been in the field for 14 years and I just turned 40. I can't even get interviews for jobs I am well qualified for. We are talking jobs that describe everything I've done down to the specific equipment. I thought the reason I took shit jobs and low pay was to gain the necessary experience for the higher end jobs? I literally spent three days making a sample video for one employer and they loved it, but “decided to move a different direction.” (Basically they used the guise of a job application to steal ideas.) I applied to the university from where I graduated, and never even got so much as a rejection letter. The last job I applied for I talked to someone who wasn't the hiring manager on the phone and haven't heard anything back after a thank you note AND a followup.
And I'm not making junk videos. My reel is filled with professional level work.
WalMart
State Farm
All-State
Domino's Pizza
Experien
YMCA
General Electric
Pepsi
And I can't even get a “go fuck yourself” from places to which I apply.
Fuck. This. Shit.
I applied for TDIU through the Veterans Administration today. With any luck, I'm done working for the rest of my life.
Want a good worker to stop working? This is how you do it.
