What’s your worst job yet?

Long post/rant so feel free to just comment your worst job below lol Over the last couple of years I've been trying various jobs in a few different industries and none have been manageable long term. Started as a volunteer in an office and was told if I keep up the good work that in 5 months time I'd get a paid apprenticeship for something like £180 per week. Lucky me….quit after a month because fuel was £20 a week Second up was a warehouse temp job part time ironically paying £180 per week. Did my 12 week contract and got extension. Worked a day job around this in the end because I was after more money and they gave the extra hours to someone else. Someone who they'd sacked previously which was even more stupid. Was doing 9am-2pm in an office manager role but truth being told I was…

Over the last couple of years I've been trying various jobs in a few different industries and none have been manageable long term.

Started as a volunteer in an office and was told if I keep up the good work that in 5 months time I'd get a paid apprenticeship for something like £180 per week. Lucky me….quit after a month because fuel was £20 a week

Second up was a warehouse temp job part time ironically paying £180 per week. Did my 12 week contract and got extension. Worked a day job around this in the end because I was after more money and they gave the extra hours to someone else. Someone who they'd sacked previously which was even more stupid. Was doing 9am-2pm in an office manager role but truth being told I was the only person in the office with the boss lol

Did a month and he pissed me off so much I told him to keep his job. He was a patronising creep who used to make even the guys on the shop floor feel uneasy. The pats on the head and thigh were too much for minimum wage. Wasn't worth the stress either. Ended up being a bookkeeper for this guy lol

Then came my lucky chance when I applied for a warehouse job for a 10% payrise as well as applying to their admin assistant job which was also a 10% payrise. Or so I thought it was lucky. Was offered the office job so I was now doing 8am-2pm for them and 4pm-8pm in my other warehouse job. Needless to say I was ruined mentally with the long days and commuting. Then doing overtime in both didn't help.

Then they were impressed after a month and offered me full time on the basis I left my other job. One month in, things were great and all was brilliant. So I'd now done 6 months in my other job and resigned. The other job was awful anyway but because it was my first paid job I clung onto a bad thing like a clown.

However once they had me 40 hours per week that's when things went wrong. I never got a lunch break, wasn't even scheduled in my contract. I got a whole lot more responsibility for no extra pay. Office administrator was now transport manager, route planner, receptionist, procurement manager as well as doing the odd shift in the warehouse or loading trucks. My personal phone was a hotline for drivers at all hours. Bear in mind I'm getting a bit more than minimum wage for all this. They blamed me for all their mistakes, left me alone to run the business for days at a time. Eventually I fell sick and was in hospital and they were texting me asking when I'd be back. On top of a cancer scare within my close family. I quit shortly after. All in I had worked 4 months for assholes.

Then came my next venture. I'd watched clarksons farm and decided I wanted to work on a farm. Well I kinda got my wish but only by postcode. A distant relative gave me a start on their farm but they built a factory on this farm so I got the views and country roads but that was about it. It was actually a production operator job for less money than I was getting before but I just wanted out of my last job. However the drive was 26 miles each way and cost approximately £6.50 per day to work but I'd been promised training in all aspects of the business so I did what I do best and went along like a clown would. Again my month went great. Learning all the new equipment and tools kept me busy. Partly distracted me from the fact I was working an extra hour per day for less money and spent 1.5 hours driving ever day. Then sure enough came the shit. Their staff would mess with me to the point I snapped. Being physically pushed about was just a step too far. Once again I was unhappy but sucked it all up. Did a few more months of plodding before they moved premises and my personal car and fuel became a taxi. I was dropping their employees off between sites, giving lifts before and after work, transporting tools etc. Some weeks I'd do 20 miles per day extra and in my own time. At the same time diesel prices were getting higher and higher. After a short while I told them no more lifts. Sure enough my skilled work disappeared and I was cleaning floors instead of doing real work. One time they had me sweeping the ridiculously huge carpark lol.

Anyway I left after 6 months of trying but being depressed and anxious.

Went to another distant relative who was hiring and was had over once again. Done 4 months for them and was on even lower pay but because I enjoyed the work and struggle to do interviews etc, I got trapped. Won't go too much into this one but I was getting about 45% less than my other job (per hour)

Sorry for the long post but if you have any bad experiences then please comment. I just want to know I'm not alone lol
